Our Founding Dean

Dick Hamman today announced he will step down from his position as Founding Dean of the Colorado School of Public Health at the close of 2010.  He will then resume his important work in diabetes prevention, for which he was last week awarded the prestigious John Snow Award. 

Of course, this transition leaves all of us in the CSPH with questions and concerns about our future.  Angst is expected with any change.  I think we will be fine.  We will all chip in to make a smooth transition to a new Dean.  The CSPH is in good shape.  We have a strong inte

Pink Lemonade

We are somewhere south of Iceland and the flight attendants are selling pink lemonade.  Money for breast cancer research.  I am returning from a meeting in Spain where I talked about ways we might disrupt the relationship between obesity and cancer.  Obesity is now second only to tobacco as a cause of cancer in the world, and in the coming months the WHO estimates cancer will become the leading cause of death in the world.
