Two Dogs Barking

A Native American explains to his grandson that in his heart there are two wolves fighting.  One has virtue and compassion while the other has bitterness and anger.   There are two dogs barking in my head these days.

One dog is excited about the potential to save lives with CT lung cancer screening and the other is excited to save lives by tobacco control.  The CT dog is particularly aroused as we are expecting the publication soon of the National Lung Screening Trial, which will show a 20% decline in risk of dying from lung cancer with annual chest CT exam

Two Johns and a Chris: The promises of new leadership

It is 2011 and we have some new leaders in Colorado:  John Elway is now leading the management of the Denver Broncos, John Hickenlooper today becomes the Governor of Colorado, and later this month Chris Urbina will be sworn-in as the new Director of CDPHE.

John Elway faces some daunting challenges.  The Broncos have seemed to be aspiring to become only average of late.  But in sports hope is always high for next year.  Good luck, John Elway, and Go Broncos.
