December 7, 2017 the Colorado Public Health/Parks and Recreation Collaborative received the award of exemplary service in the category of "health and wellness" at a Collaboration in Industry Luncheon provided by the Colorado Business Roundtable. After a call from COBRT to state businesses and organizations to define how they successfully employ collaboration within their respective field, the CoPHPR Collaborative was selected from all received entries as one of three finalists for the award, the winner which was to be announced at the luncheon.

Following remarks from Governor John Hickenlooper and author and Chairman of Gallop, Jim Clifton, nominees and winners of each category were introduced to the audience of around 200.

To the tune of Chicago's "Saturday in the Park", receiving the beautifully crafted award on behalf of the collaborative was co-founder Brian Kates, Parks Operations Administrator for the City of Colorado Springs (See the picture of the award attached). Established in 2013, the CoPHPRC establishes connection between professionals of the public health and parks and recreation fields with the mission of collectively improving the health, wellness and quality of life for all Coloradans.
